Introducing Amparo Collazo, the newest face on The Jake and Elaine Show!
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Amparo moved to the States at just a year old. Her father sought a better life, laboring in a toy factory for modest wages while her mother became the neighborhood’s go-to seamstress, turning her knack for sewing into a side hustle to keep the family afloat.
Growing up on the tough streets of New York, Amparo learned early on how to handle herself—though her mother grew weary of the constant calls about her daughter’s latest scrap. Seeking a new path, Amparo traded the streets for the sea and joined the U.S. Navy. She didn’t just serve; she joined the SEAL team, mastering self-defense and ensuring she would never have to look over her shoulder again.
But life hasn't always been a bowl of cherries. While serving, she fell for a fellow sailor and dreamed of a beautiful future together. However, she was dealt a cruel blow when her fiancé got cold feet and left her at the altar. Heartbroken, she buried herself in her career, eventually retiring after twenty years of dedicated service.
Today, Amparo is a no-nonsense New Yorker with a hidden heart of gold. She works for the government and, despite her past, still hopes to find "Mr. Right." She is a devoted, church-going woman who loves the Lord, but she has one undeniable weakness: Salsa. The moment she hears that beat, she can’t help but dance!
Now that she and Elaine are neighbors and fast friends, there’s no telling what kind of hilarious trouble they’ll cook up. Tune in for more comedy with Jake, Elaine, and Amparo... ¡Wepa!
