Welcome our newest addition.
Say hello to Mingo. He wants to get a date with Amparo. Do you think he has a chance? Let's look at his background and life. Born in the Bronx, New York City, Mingo, whose full name is Domingo Luis Silvestre, grew up in a Puerto Rican family. His Spanish isn't great, but he understands and reads it perfectly.
In school, he wasn't into sports but had a talent for making people laugh and doing imitations. He often got into trouble for imitating his teacher and principal behind their backs. His mom used "La Chancha" (The slipper) to discipline him. She would grab her slipper and hit him over the head with it.
He wanted to enter the comedy circuit, but tragedy struck when he was 18. He lost his father in a robbery. His mom, who was sickly and hardly spoke English, was in a tough spot. Mingo looked for work and became a sanitation worker. He lives with his mother and helps her pay the bills.
Jake and Elaine are family friends who helped him cope with his father's death. Amparo doesn't know they are friends. Mingo sees her on her way to work because his sanitation route is near her job. She usually ignores him and says, "Drop dead," but life is full of surprises. Stay tuned for more comedy and fun.
